Venerable Master of Kadosh
Ill. George Samuel Nicol, 33° was raised in Sierra Leone and attended the Sierra Leone Grammar School then continued his studies in the United States at the Virginia Polytechnic and State University in 1970 to study Civil Engineering. He completed his studies in June 1974 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
After graduation, he was employed by Dewberry Nealon and Davis (DND) as an engineer. He participated in numerous engineering projects doing grading and airport design. He worked with DND for five years before transferring to Bernard Johnson Incorporated in 1980 as a Staff Engineer addressing and reviewing floodplain studies within the United States. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering in June 1982 at Catholic University and then moved to Kidde Consultants where he specialized in the area of Land Development for both residential and commercial, addressing storm drainage, storm water management, sediment control, floodplain and road designs.
In July 1989 he obtained employment with the Prince George’s County Government, Department of Environmental Resources, as a Project Engineer specializing in land development. Presently he is the Acting Associate Director in the Permits and Review Division within the County. Some of the projects he has been responsible for are the National Harbor, Star View Plaza and Woodmore Town Center. He is a Licensed Registered Engineer in the State of Maryland and Virginia, and also a member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
Brother Nicol is also a founding Member, Past Master and Treasurer of Sojourner Kilwinning Lodge No. 1798, Past Master of Albert Pike Lodge No. 33 and Joppa Lodge No. 35, Past Assistant Grand Chaplain, Past Grand Standard Bearer, Past Thrice Illustrious Master of Adoniram Zabbud Council No. 2, Past Zerubbabel of Sojourner Kilwinning Chapter No. 7, Past Commander of Columbia Commandery No. 2 and a 33º Scottish Rite Mason.
He is a very active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Washington, DC, where he served as Junior Warden. He is married to his wife Mrs. Henrietta Nicol and they are the proud parents of three children, Georgetta, George and Lawrence, and also of two adopted children Annie and Henrietta M’Carthy.
