Terms of Use

This is the sole agreement between user of the website at dcsr.org (‘User”) and Scottish Rite of the District of Columbia, LLC, its affiliated organizations, trustees, officers, agents, assignees, transferees, heirs, and successors (collectively, “Scottish Rite of DC”). The Scottish Rite of DC web site (“Web Site”) is comprised of pages written, stored, published, and/or made available for electronic retrieval by Scottish Rite of DC at the domain dcsr.org.

The Web Site is offered to User for review on condition of User's acceptance, without modification, of the terms, conditions, and notices (collectively the "Terms”) contained herein. User's request, electronic or otherwise, for, and/or review of, any page or pages of the Web Site constitutes User's agreement to all the Terms. User stipulates Scottish Rite of DC's service and/or provision of any page or pages of the Web Site is adequate consideration for User's acceptance of the Terms.


Scottish Rite of DC reserves the right to change, without notice, the Terms under which the Web Site is offered and/or served, including but not limited to the charges associated with use of the Web Site.

Links to Third Party Sites

The Web Site may contain hypertext links, or other references, to other web sites published by third parties ("Linked Sites"). The Linked Sites are not under the control of Scottish Rite of DC and Scottish Rite of DC is not responsible for the contents of any Linked Site, whatsoever.  User is solely responsible for directing User's browser and does so at User's own risk. Scottish Rite of DC publishes links to Linked Sites only as a convenience to User.  The publication of such links does not imply endorsement by or association with Scottish Rite of DC.

Unlawful or Prohibited Use

User warrants to Scottish Rite of DC, as a condition of use of the Web Site, that User will not use the Web Site for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by the Terms.  User may not use the Web Site in any manner which may damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Web Site or interfere with any other party's use and enjoyment of the Web Site. User may not obtain or attempt to obtain any materials or information through any means not intentionally made available or provided for through the Web Site.

Communication Services

The Web Site may contain bulletin board services, chat areas, news groups, forums, communities, personal web pages, calendars, and/or other message or communication facilities designed to enable User to communicate with the public at large or with a group (collectively, "Communication Services").

Scottish Rite of DC does not control or endorse the content, messages or information found in any Communication Service. Scottish Rite of DC specifically disclaims any liability with regard to the Communication Services and any actions resulting from User's use or other participation in the Communication Services. Managers, hosts, and/or moderators of the Communication Services are not authorized Scottish Rite of DC spokespersons. The views of said managers, hosts, and/or moderators do not necessarily reflect those of Scottish Rite of DC.

Scottish Rite of DC does not warrant the accuracy or reliability of any content, messages, schedules, or other information found in the Communication Services or otherwise published on the Web Site and specifically disclaims any liability for User's reliance thereon.

User agrees to use the Communication Services only to post, send, and receive information that are proper and related to the particular Communication Service. This includes, but is not limited to, User's agreement not to:

  • Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights, including but not limited to the privacy rights of others;
  • Publish, post, upload, distribute or disseminate any inappropriate, profane, defamatory, infringing, obscene, indecent or unlawful topic, name, material or information;
  • Upload or otherwise publish information protected by intellectual property laws (or by rights of privacy of publicity) unless User owns or control the rights thereto or has received all necessary consents to said publication;
  • Upload files that contain viruses, trojans, root kits, or any other malevolent, corrupted, or compromised software or programs that may damage or compromise the security and privacy of another's computer;
  • Advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods or services for any business purpose, unless such Communication Services specifically allows such messages;
  • Conduct or forward surveys, contests, pyramid schemes or chain letters;
  • Download any file posted by another user of a Communication Service that Users knows, or reasonably should know, cannot be legally distributed in such manner.
  • Falsify or delete any author attributions, legal or other proper notices or proprietary designations or labels of the origin or source of software or other material contained in a file that is uploaded;
  • Restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying the Communication Services;
  • Violate any code of conduct or other guidelines which may be applicable for any particular Communication Service;
  • Harvest or otherwise collect information about others, including e-mail addresses, without their consent; or
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations.

Scottish Rite of DC has no obligation to monitor the Communication Services. However, Scottish Rite of DC reserves the right to review information posted to a Communication Services and to edit, redact, or remove any information or part thereof at its sole discretion. Scottish Rite of DC reserves the right to terminate User's access to any or all of the Communication Services at any time without notice for any reason whatsoever.

Scottish Rite of DC reserves the right at all times to edit, refuse to publish or to remove any information or materials, in whole or in part, for any reason whatsoever. Scottish Rite of DC reserves the right at all times to disclose to any party including governmental or municipal authorities and/or agencies any information which User submits or causes to be submitted to Scottish Rite of DC through the Communication Services, or to the Web Site, or in any other manner. Such information may include information which may lead to the specific identification of User.

Materials uploaded to a Communication Services may be subject to posted limitations on usage, reproduction and/or dissemination. User is solely responsible for complying with any such limitations.

Materials Provided to Scottish Rite of DC or the Web Site

By posting, upload, publishing, submitting, or otherwise providing information to the Web Site or Communication Service, User grants to Scottish Rite of DC and third parties of its choosing, all permissions, rights, and licenses necessary for the same to use the information so provided in any manner they may choose at their sole discretion in perpetuity, including, without limitation, the rights to: copy, publish, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat the information so provided, including information which User has provided or caused to be provided which may lead to specific identification of User.

Further, by so providing said information, User warrants and represents to Scottish Rite of DC that User owns the information so provided, controls the rights thereto, or otherwise has permission to make the grant of the permissions, rights, and licenses described above. User agrees to indemnify Scottish Rite of DC for any damages or liability that it may incur due to its reliance on User's provision of such information, and consequent grants, warrants, and representations described above. User further agrees they will contribute to or otherwise assist in the defence of any claim against Scottish Rite of DC arising from User's provision of such information, and consequent grants, warrants, and representations described above, including but not limited to User's appearance without compensation or reimbursement at any hearing, deposition, or other legal proceeding and/or User's provision of sworn testimony or affidavit.

User further stipulates that Scottish Rite of DC's provision of the Communication Services by which User so provides such information is additional consideration for User's acceptance of the Terms related to the same.

Scottish Rite of DC assumes no obligation to post or otherwise use User's information so provided.

No compensation will be paid to User with respect to the use of User's information so provided.


The content, text graphics, software, products, services, and other information (collectively, the "Information") included in or available through the Web Site may be inaccurate or erroneous. Scottish Rite of DC and/or its suppliers may change, cause or permit said information to be changed at any time. Do not ever rely on any information, advice, or recommendations published via the Web Site, including but not limited to personal, legal, medical, or financial advice.

Scottish Rite of DC makes no representations about, and specifically disclaims any warranties or representations as to the suitability, reliability, availability, timeliness, and accuracy of the Information contained the Web Site for any purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Information published on the Web Site or through the Communication Services are provided "AS IS " without warranty or condition of any kind. Scottish Rite of DC and/or its suppliers hereby disclaims all warranties and conditions with regard to the Information, including all implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Scottish Rite of DC and/or its suppliers be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential damages or any damages whatsoever including, without limitation, damages for loss of use, data or profits, arising out of or in any way connected with the use or performance of the Web Site, with the delay or inability to use the Web Site or related services, the provision of or failure to provide services, or for any information, software, products, services and related graphics obtained through the Web Site, or otherwise arising out of the use of the Web Site, whether based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or otherwise, even if Scottish Rite of DC or any of its suppliers has been advised of the possibility of damages. Because some states/jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, the above limitation may not apply to User. If User is dissatisfied with any portion of the Web Site, or with any of these terms of use, User's sole and exclusive remedy is to discontinue using the Web Site, immediately. User waives any and all rights or recourse against Scottish Rite of DC arising from any continued use of Web Site, the Communication Service, or related services subsequent to such dissatisfaction.

Termination of Access

Scottish Rite of DC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate User's access to Web Site and the related services or any portion thereof at any time, without notice.


To the maximum extent permitted by law, this agreement is governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, United States of America. User consents to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of courts in the District of Columbia. in all disputes arising out of or relating to the use of the Web Site.

Use of Web Site is unauthorized in any jurisdiction that does not give effect to all provisions of these terms and conditions, including without limitation, this paragraph.

User stipulates that no joint venture, partnership, employment, or agency relationship exists between User and Scottish Rite of DC as a result of this agreement or use of the Web Site. Scottish Rite of DC's performance of this agreement is subject to existing laws and legal process, and nothing contained in this agreement is in derogation of Scottish Rite of DC's right to comply with governmental, court and law enforcement requests or requirements relating to User's use of the Web Site or information provided to or gathered by Scottish Rite of DC with respect to such use.

If any part of this agreement is determined to be invalid or unenforceable pursuant to applicable law including, but not limited to, the warranty disclaimers and liability limitations set forth above, then the invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed superseded by a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision and the remainder of the agreement shall continue in effect.

This agreement constitutes the entire agreement between Userand Scottish Rite of DC with respect to the Web Site and it supersedes all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals, whether electronic, oral or written, between User and Scottish Rite of DC with respect to Web Site. A printed version of this agreement and of any notice given in electronic form shall be admissible in judicial or administrative proceedings based upon or relating to this agreement to the same extent and subject to the same conditions as other business documents and records originally generated and maintained in printed form. The parties hereby stipulate their preference this agreement, all related documents be drawn up in English and any proceedings arising therefrom be conducted in English.

All contents of the Web Site are the property of Scottish Rite of the District of Columbia, LLC, and/or its suppliers, except where otherwise indicated. All rights reserved.
