Ill. James Dean Cole, 33° is the principal officer of the Scottish Rite for the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States, which is comprised of 217 Valleys in 35 Orients. Scottish Rite Masons in Japan and Korea, and Taiwan and China are also included within the scope of his authority.

Ill. Leonard Proden, 33°, was elected as Deputy to the Supreme Council in 2005 while serving as DC Grand Master; and in 2007, was elevated to SGIG of the Orient of the District of Columbia.

The Secretary’s office is located in the Scottish Rite Temple of the District of Columbia, 2800 16th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20009, and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm; Tuesday, 8:00 am to 7:30 pm. This Scottish Rite office is closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and all Federal Holidays. The DC Scottish Rite mirrors the Federal Government’s status during inclement weather. If the Federal Government is closed due to weather, on the date of a Stated Communication of the DCSR, then the Stated Communication is called off. Telephone: (202) 232-8155.

JD, as Ill. Holt is commonly known, is in charge of the physical plant, including facility rentals, vendor and contractor interface, and management of the custodial staff.

Maximizing the quality of our current members’ experience as Scottish Rite Masons is Brad’s primary focus. As Director of Membership Services, he plays a major role in the coordination and promotion of the many programs and events offered to all of our members throughout the year. The retention of our existing members with their unmatched institutional knowledge and valuable relationships is crucial to long-term stability as well as the continuation of the Valley’s many worthy traditions. His daily one-on-one interactions help to ensure each Brother is recognized and appreciated as an individual and not just a name and number in a database.

Fostering a vibrant Scottish Rite also demands real attention to bringing in great new members as well as retaining our wonderful existing members. The addition of new members enriches the Valley of Washington with diversity, fresh ideas, and new energy. Toward that end, Brother Andrukitis’ labors alongside the Membership Chairman and his committee to facilitate the recruitment of those Master Masons who should also be Scottish Rite Masons. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a member of the Valley of Washington, Brother Andrukitis will be pleased to chat with you and try to answer any questions you may have about this aspect of Scottish Rite Freemasonry.
